Sharks Senior Ladies team in the Medals at Lincs Squadron Relays. In a tough competition our Senior Ladies team gets two top three finishes. by Sandra Temperton Just eight girls and a small band of supporters travelled to “The Meres” Leisure centre at Grantham on Saturday 30th September, for the Lincs League Squadron Relay Gala. This gala is made up of 4 x 50m relay events for both Junior (under 14 years) and Senior girls and boys. Shields are awarded only to the top two teams in each event. The Senior girls team, consisting of Rebecca Milnes, Laura and Georgina Holroyd and Alison Pennell finished 3rd in the Freestyle relay event and second in the Medley Relay event, for which they were awarded a shield to go into the club trophy cabinet All four girls swam really well against some very tough opposition from teams representing the various clubs around Lincolnshire. The Junior girls squad, Emily Fordham, Beth Edgar, Anna Laird and Molly Simm also swam really well, clocking up some good times, gaining them all valuable points for the Sprint Ladder. They unfortunately didn’t get placed in the trophy winning top two places in either of their events, as they are all 11 & 12 year olds, and were swimming against 13 year old swimmers from the other clubs. Nevertheless, they gave the other clubs a good run for their money, and should certainly do better next year! Watch this space……..!
